Liposuction is one of the more common procedures that I perform. We have several methods of fat reduction including CoolSculpting and Kybella, but these methods cannot remove as much fat as we can with liposuction in San Antonio.

Non-invasive Alternatives to Liposuction
CoolSculpting is great for treating localized areas of fat and in my experience usually reduces about 100 to 150 cc of fat which each treatment. Another treatment for localized fat is Kybella but this treatment usually takes several sessions with less than 100cc reduced at each time.
Where is Liposuction Performed
By far the most effective treatment for reducing fat in men and women at a reasonable cost is liposuction. Although with tumescent anesthesia liposuction can be performed in the office, when dealing with larger areas I prefer performing the procedure in the operating room. In the OR liposuction can be performed under general anesthesia with a Board Certified Anesthesiologist monitoring you and I can focus on the procedure. The procedure becomes much more comfortable and safer for the patient.
How is Liposuction Done
Liposuction can be performed on men and women. Before the procedure, I mark the areas to be suctioned in the Preop area. The areas to be suctioned could be hips, flanks, back, abdomen, chest, thighs, or chin. After the anesthesia is started, we begin to perform liposuction on the areas that we marked. Incisions are made in areas that can usually be easily hidden. These incisions are usually less than 5mm. Sometimes we can even use old scars for incision sites. After we decide on the incisions, we inject a tumescent solution of fluid with lidocaine and epinephrine. This helps minimize bleeding and also decreases pain after the procedure.
Depending on the areas to be suctioned we will use either straight forward liposuction or power-assisted liposuction. The power-assisted works well in areas like the back and chest that are more fibrous. If there is a great deal of skin that we would like to tighten, I will use the Radio Frequency Assisted Liposuction or BodyTite system.
Recovery from Liposuction
After the procedure, we place a compression garment that I like to keep on all the time for 2 weeks. Usually in the first 24 hours, some of the remaining tumescent fluid will drain. Often, there may be a big rush of fluid when the patient gets up to walk. This can be scary, but is
totally normal. Patients with sedentary jobs can be back to work after a long weekend. Starting about 2 weeks after surgery we will begin sonic wave treatment to help even out the areas treated and reduce the swelling.
Costs of Liposuction
Costs for Liposuction in San Antonio can be quite reasonable, but will also include the cost of the operating room and anesthesia fees. We include 5 sonic wave treatments for everyone and each treatment after is $100. The cost of the compression garment is included, but you may wish to purchase an extra garment as a spare. The total cost will vary based on basically how long the procedure will take. We have a variety of financing options available.
